In her role as General Counsel, Melody provides legal services to support Kareo’s business objectives and mission to help independent medical practices succeed within today’s challenging healthcare landscape. With more than 15 years of general counsel experience in the software industry, Melody is well-positioned to help Kareo make informed decisions while operating in a fast-paced, complex legal environment.
Prior to joining Kareo, Melody spent two years as General Counsel at DAQRI, LLC, an augmented reality start-up in Los Angeles that develops AR wearables for industrial workplaces. At DAQRI, Melody built the legal department from ground-up, worked on several company and technology acquisitions and office openings in both the US and Europe, managed the trademark portfolio, and building of a large patent portfolio.
Before DAQRI, Melody was General Counsel of the North American subsidiary of Sage, a UK publicly-traded software company, and was a member of the executive team and the global leadership team. During her 10+ years at Sage, Melody started the North American legal department, worked on more than 25 acquisitions of companies and technology assets, oversaw the Sage global trademark portfolio, helped lead a corporate re-branding effort and managed its litigation.
Prior to going in-house, Melody was a commercial litigator at two Am Law 100 firms, including Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman where she was a partner specializing in class actions and other complex business cases.
Melody has a B.A from UCLA and a J.D. from Loyola Law School. She is a thalassophile (lover of the sea—we looked it up for you) and strives to be in, on or near the object of her passion on a daily basis.
