Reject Encounter

Encounters that have been submitted for approval are listed under the "Submitted" tab of the Find Encounter task (or browser). It is the responsibility of the business office to review these encounters on a daily basis.

Once an encounter has been reviewed, it can be either approved (see Approve Encounter); or, if the encounter contains inaccurate or incomplete information that prohibits it from being approved, it can be rejected and returned for editing and re-submittal.

To reject an encounter and return it for further editing, do the following:

1.  While in the Edit Encounter task, make whatever notes are necessary pertaining to why the encounter is being rejected.

2.  Click the Reject button on the Task Button Bar. This removes the encounter from the "Submitted" section and places it in the "Rejected" section of the Find Encounter browser.

3.  The medical office should be checking for rejected encounters on a daily basis and taking appropriate action. Once corrections have been made to an encounter, they can be resubmitted to the business office for further review.
