New Referring Physician

Follow these steps to add a new referring physician:

1.  On the Settings menu, click Other Lists>Find Referring Physicians. This opens the Find Referring Physician task (or browser). Click the New button on the Task Button Bar of the browser to add a new referring physician. This opens the New Referring Physician task.

Note that setting up a referring physician record is very similar to setting up a provider record. However, not all fields on a referring physician record are required fields. The topics in this section will explain in more detail what information is required to submit claims to payers when a referring physician is named on a claim.

3.  Under the "General" tab, enter the general information. The "General" section should include the basic demographic information including the referring physician's name, NPI number, specialty, and general contact information.

4.  When you finish adding the new referring physician record, click the Save button; or to exit the task without saving the new record, click Cancel.
