Find Encounter
Follow these steps to find an existing encounter record:
1. On the Encounters menu, click Find Encounters. This opens the Find Encounter task (or browser).
2. Just below the Task Title Bar are tabbed sections showing the number of encounters in various stages of completion. For more information on reviewing the various encounters in the system, see Track Encounters.
3. To locate a specific encounter, you must first determine whether you want search all encounters or if you want to search only encounters that are in a certain stage of completion. Once determined, click the appropriate tab.
4. If necessary, use the Search Bar at the top of the browser to locate an encounter record.
To search for an existing encounter record, do the following:
In the Look For box, enter a single or partial name identifier (such as the name of the patient or provider), or enter a number string (such as the encounter ID, encounter date, etc.).
Select the field you wish to search across from the drop-down list in the Search In box (e.g., encounter ID, date, provider, patient name, patient ID, patient SSN).
Click Find Now to execute the search.
5. Once you find the encounter, double-click on the record to view it; or click once on the record and then click the Open button.
6. To close the record, press the Esc on your keyboard. This returns you to the Find Encounter browser.
7. To close the browser, press the Esc key on your keyboard.
