Find Claims
Follow these steps to search for a specific claim or a group of claims.
1. On the Encounters menu, click Track Claim Status. This opens the Find Claim task (or browser), which displays a list of all claims for the medical practice.
You will notice that the search bar at the top of the browser contains three fields. The first field allows you to list claims based on status. The second field allows you to enter a key word or number string to locate a specific claim, and the third field allows you to select the field you wish to search across. Note that claims are listed in descending order; first by Encounter Service Date, then by Encounter ID, then by Claim ID.
To search for a single claim or a group of claims, do the following:
In the first field of the search bar, select the status of the claims you wish to search. If you select other than "All Claims" and then click the Find Now button, the system will automatically re-display the list based on the status selected. It is also important to understand that when selecting a status other than "All Claims", the system will only search on claims that fall within the status selected.
In the second field of the search bar, enter a keyword or number sequence that defines what you are searching for. (This may be a patient name, an encounter ID, a claim ID, a payer name, etc.)
In the third field of the search bar, select the field you wish to search across.
Click the Find Now button to execute the search. The system will return a list of only those claims that meet your search criteria.
2. At this point, you can double-click on any claim to view it; or click once on the claim and then click the Open button. This opens the Edit Claim task, which allows you to view details of the claim as well as any prior transactions associated with the claim. Clicking on any line item in the "Transactions" section of the claim, will provide more details about a specific transaction. You can also link directly to a Patient record, Encounter record, or Case record, by double-clicking the hyperlink in the applicable field of the claim.
3. To close the claim, press the Esc key on your keyboard. This returns you to the Find Claim browser.
