Edit Document

Follow these steps to make changes to an existing document that has been saved to the central storage area of the application:

1.  On the Documents menu, click Find Documents. This opens the Find Document task (or browser).

2.  To locate a document, refer to the relevant steps in Find Document.

3.  Once you locate the document, double-click on the document to download it; or click once on the document and then click Open on the Task Button Bar.

4.  If the document is a digital file (e.g., Word Document, Excel Document, etc.), the associated software application will open so that you will be able to edit the document, as necessary. Once changes have been made, close the document. The system will ask if you would like to save the changes. Click Yes to save the changes, click Cancel to abort all changes made to the document.

5.  If the document was a previously scanned or faxed document, double-clicking on the document will open the Edit Document task. This task is separated into three areas: The meta file information on the left, the document viewing area on the right, and the Task Button Bar at the bottom of the task.

In this view, you can change the Label for the document, change the Status of the document, and you can edit or add additional notes to the document if desired. But because this is a scanned document, you won't be able to make changes to the document itself.

6.  To close the Find Document browser, press the Esc key on your keyboard.
