Deactivate Procedure Code

The administrator has the ability to deactivate a procedure code so that the code cannot be used when entering new encounters. When rendering a procedure code inactive, the code will still remain within the database but will not be accessible when entering charges.

Follow these steps to deactivate a procedure code:

1.  On the Settings menu, click Codes >Find Procedures. This opens the Find Procedure task (or browser).

2.  Use the Search Bar at the top of the browser to locate the procedure code. (For help in locating a procedure code, refer to the relevant steps in Find Procedure Code.)

3.  Once you find the procedure code record, double-click on the record to open it; or click once on the record and then click Open on the Task Button Bar.

4.  Using your left mouse button, clear the checkbox labeled "Procedure is currently used."

5.  Click the Save button to save the change; or to exit the task without saving the change, press the Esc key on your keyboard. This returns you to the Find Procedurebrowser.

6.  To close the browser, press the Esc key again.
