Deactivate Diagnosis Code

The administrator has the ability to deactivate a diagnosis code so that the code cannot be used when entering new encounters. When rendering a diagnosis code inactive, the code will still remain within the database but will not be accessible when entering charges.

Follow these steps to inactivate a diagnosis code:

1.  On the Settings menu, click Codes >Find Diagnoses. This opens the Find Diagnosis task (or browser).

2.  Use the Search Bar at the top of the browser to locate the diagnosis code. (For help in locating a diagnosis code, refer to the relevant steps in Find Diagnosis Code.)

3.  Once you find the diagnosis code record, double-click on the record to open it; or click once on the record and then click Open on the Task Button Bar.

4.  Using your left mouse button, clear the checkbox labeled "Diagnosis is currently used."

5.  Click the Save button to save the change; or to exit the task without saving the change, press the Esc key. This returns you to the Find Diagnosis browser.

6.  To close the browser, press the Esc key again.
