Ambulance Services

The below instructions are for ambulance billing services only. If you are billing for ambulance services and have checked the Ambulance box under the Optional Add-ons section of an encounter record, complete the fields associated with the ambulance services provided as shown below:

  • Emergency: Check this box if emergency service.

  • Patient Weight: Enter the patient's weight.

  • Transport Distance: Enter the total distance traveled.

  • Transport Code: Select the transport code from the drop-down list.

  • Transport Reason Code: Select the transport reason from the drop-down list.

  • Pick-Up Address: Enter the address from where the patient was picked up.

  • Drop-Off Location: Enter the location to where the patient was transported.

  • Drop-Off Address: Enter the address of the drop-off location.

  • Time of Service: Enter beginning and end time of service.

  • Round Trip Description: Enter a short description of the round trip service, if applicable.

  • Stretcher Purpose: If a stretcher was used, enter the purpose of the stretcher.

  • Ambulance Certification: In the box to the left of the Ambulance Certification section, select one or more certification codes that apply to the patient. After each selection, click the > button to add the code to the selection box on the right. To remove a previously selected code, click directly on the item and then click the < button.

  • Medical Office Notes: Optional. For internal use only.

  • Business Office Notes: Optional. For internal use only.
