How to Improve Your Collection Calls Results
My medical billing tip is on improving your collection call results. After our collection process (each office has a certain # of statements they send for collection notices – our office usually sends 3), I follow up with a phone call. Instead of the usual “Your account is overdue”, I follow this plan:
1) I ask how the patient is doing;
2) Let them know I am following up on their care;
3) Verify their address information;
4) Ask if they have received our statements and offer to set up payment arrangements.
I am more likely to get a positive response and I also remind the patient of the care that they received!
